ATV Assist Modena on Environmental Rescue in South Coatesville Borough

On Saturday morning November 3, 2012 ATV 44 was alerted to assist the Modena Fire Company on an Environmental Rescue in South Coatesville Borough.

The Modena Ambulance was dispatched to a injured person from a fall to the rear of 2214 Upper gap Road in South Coatesville Borough.

Ambulance 37-12 and Medic 93 made the response and were advised that the patient was involved in a ATV accident and was reported to be in the woods. Ambulance 37-1 requested that Station 37 be alerted for extra man power. Upon the Ambulance's arrival the y found the patient over 100 yards into heavily wooded area and made the second request for ATV 44.

Station 37 and ATV 44 were alerted, Engine 37-3, Brush 37, Traffic 37, and Ambulance 37-2 all made the response to assist, along with ATV 44. Deputy Chief Perine arrived and established Upper Gap Command requesting the Brush and Engine 3 crew to start cutting a path into the patient for ATV 44.

Brush 37 made most of the path and addition EMS equipment was taken into the EMS personnel. ATV 44 arrived on scene and made its way into the patient. Everyone worked together to load the patient and slowly make the trip out of the woods.

Once out on the road the transfer from the ATV to Ambulance 37-1 was done. Ambulance 37-1 and Medic 93 transported to Brandywine Hospital, all other units returned to their respective stations available.
