Rescue Standby At Cochranville Fire Company
Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By EMS Chief Bill Dill
July 22, 2015

On July 22nd, 2015 Rescue 44 with a crew of 5 traveled to the Cochranville Fire Company for a standby. Cochranville Fire Chief Linenbaugh asked Westwood to provide a rescue crew for the evening as the Cochranville personnel worked their annual carnival.

Westwood personnel arrived at station 27 to meet with members of the Kennett Fire Company, who we would be working with for the night. Chief Linenbaugh greeted all personnel and gave both crews a briefing of the plan for calls and expectations while on standby.

At 19:12 Station 27 was alerted for a reported brush fire in the area of East Friendship Church Road and Old Stottsville Road. Engine 24-2 and Rescue 44 responded immediately after dispatch and were advised by the Chester County 911 Center that the caller reported a fire on the side of the road in that area.

Captain 27 Null arrived to find a small fire on the side of the road and held the assignment to Engine 24-2. Engine 24-2 arrived and extinguished the small area on fire as Captain 27 advised Westwood EMS Chief Dill to investigate a report of tress and Wires down across the road further down the road from the reported brush fire. EMS Chief Dill provided the proper information to Captain 27 for the report to be made to PECO. Also, a response was requested from the Highland Township Road Crew for barricades to close the road down for safety, as it was impassable.

All units cleared the scene at 19:35.

At the conclusion of the carnival for the day, Chief Linnenbaugh released the standby crews with his thanks. Rescue 44 returned to station.

Thank you to Katie A. Simmers for the pictures.
