Garage Fire in South Coatesville

On Friday January 13, 2017, the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched at 1650 for a reported garage fire on West Chester Road in South Coatesville Borough. Also due on the assignment was Modena, Coatesville, Thorndale, Coatesville VA, Sadsburyville and East Brandywine for Rapid Intervention.

Modena Battalion Chief Corle made the immediate response and was notified by county they were receiving multiple calls and alerting the working fire dispatch. Modena Chief Dowlin arrived a minute later and report a detached garage well involved and established West Chester Road Command.

Ladder 41-1 was first on scene and stretched an 1 ¾ attack line and started fire suppression. Engine 76 arrived and supplied Ladder 41. Engine 37-1 lead a supply line from West Chester Road and Woodward Road into the scene. Manpower reported to the manpower pool for deployment.

The fire was placed under control at 1710 with all units working, some units were released shortly after holding it to Modena, Coatesville and Coatesville VA. The Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office arrived and completed their investigation. Overhaul was completed after investigation with all units clearing the scene at 1852.
