Furnace Malfunction on Molineux Lane

On Tuesday January 17th, 2017 at 1008 the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the 200 block of Molineux Lane in East Fallowfield Township for a reported house fire. The call to 911 indicated smoke was filling up a dwelling from an unknown source. The incident was a Modena first due with additional units from Coatesville, Sadsburyville and Keystone on the box.

Arriving at 1015, Modena Assistant Chief Bryant reported nothing showing from the exterior of the dwelling and established "East Fallowfield" Command, arriving next Modena Deputy Chief Wilmont assumed operations.

Engine 37-2 arrive as first due engine and stretched a 1-3/4" to the front door. Ladder 41 took position as the first due truck behind Engine 37-2 and Engine 44-5 arrived as the second due engine and water supply for the scene.

Firefighters entered the structure and located an odor and haze of smoke where it was determined there to be a furnace malfunction. Crews spent the next ten minutes racking line back onto Engine 37-2. The situation was quickly under control and the incident was scaled back to the units on scene from Modena, Coatesville and Westwood.
