Fire & EMS Divisions Receive State Grant Funds

On Friday, February 3rd, 2017 we received notification of two grant awards released through the Pennsylvania State Fire Commissioner's office for the 2016-2017 grant cycle.

The first grant award awarded to the Fire/Rescue division will be utilized to upgrade our vehicle exhaust system. Diesel exhaust emissions have been proven to be a cancer causing agent, and with our system we are able to protect the health and welfare of our volunteer and career personnel. We will be completing this through a bulk purchase agreement with our neighbors at the Wagontown Fire Company and our colleagues at the Valley Forge Volunteer Fire Company. We received $15,000 for this project, the maximum funding allowed by law.

The Ambulance division also received $7,448.21 which will be applied towards the purchase of our new ambulance which is due to arrive in the summer of 2017. This acquisition will be towards the replacement of our 2009 ambulance chassis which currently has over 120,000 miles.

The grant funds are received through funding generated by casino gaming funds as authorized by our elected state officials. We would like to thank all who were instrumental in securing these funds for the benefit of fire and EMS agencies across Pennsylvania.
