In the early morning at 0200, the Westwood Fire Company and Brandywine Hospital Medic 93 were dispatched to the 271.8 mile marker of the Eastbound Route 30 Bypass in Valley Township for an auto accident reported serious involving a motorcycle. Calls to 911 indicated a tractor trailer had collided with a motorcycle and it was unknown on the extent of injuries.

Initial reports indicated one patient but after further investigation by bystanders a second patient was located. A second ambulance was dispatched to respond from the Washies of Coatesville and two medics were already on the street.

Assistant Chief Grossman arrived and established "Bypass Command", reporting a walking wounded patient on the highway and a second patient down an embankment.

Rescue 44 arrived and provided scene lighting until the portable light tower arrived. In addition Rescue 44 blocked the roadway from oncoming traffic for responder safety.

Mutual aid Fire Police from Sadsburyville, Wagontown and Modena responded and shut down the Route 30 Bypass at Lincoln Highway in Boyd's Corner and Airport Road in Valley.
