At 0400 the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the unit block of Washington Avenue in Valley Township for an outbuilding fire. The caller reported a shed fully involved in flames with a house and car as an exposure.

Arriving 1st due, Engine 31-1 with a crew of 5 went in service with the front bumper line and immediately protected the exposure house which only had exterior siding melting at the time. Crews then contained the shed and car on fire and quickly brought the fire under control within 15 minutes of being dispatched.

Engine 44-5 provided water to the scene, supplying Engine 31-1. Wagontown Rescue 35 proceeded in to standby and assisted crews with racking hose lines. Chief McWilliams assumed the Washington Avenue Command. An additional tanker was requested to the scene due to reports of the house being involved in flames but was later recalled from the East Brandywine Fire Company.

Chester County Fire Marshall's Office is investigating the cause of the fire. All units cleared the scene around 0500 hours.
