Ambulance Remount Completed

On Friday, August 18th, 2017 President Sly flew to Ohio to perform final inspection on our "newest" piece of EMS apparatus.

In May, our 2009 Ford Braun Chief XL Ambulance was sent to the Braun Manufacturing facility in Van Wert, Ohio to have a new 2016 Chevrolet chassis installed. This process of remounting the existing body onto a new chassis provided a tremendous cost savings to the Fire Company. Through the remount process, the vehicle received a full body paint job, improvements to doors, a new power load stretcher system, an upgraded electrical system, and a new front console.

The 2009 Ambulance had served us well; with more than 150,000 miles on the vehicle prior to being replaced. Each Westwood Ambulance now travels an average of 40,000 miles per year.

This vehicle will now return to service as our front-line Ambulance serving out of the Main Station on Valley Road.

New radio equipment and lettering will be completed prior to being inspected by the Pennsylvania Department of Health for certification. We expect the new ambulance to be placed into service prior to October 1st.
