Email Print RSS Facebook Twitter RSS

By Assistant Fire Chief Adam Grossman
November 21, 2017

On Tuesday November 21, 2017 at 1045 the Westwood and Sadsburyville Fire Companies were dispatched to the intersection of Airport Road and Lincoln Highway for a fuel spill. Battalion Chief Sly had been on location and reported a no injury accident however a large amount of diesel fuel was filling the roadway from the tractor trailer involved.

When units arrived they used absorbent pigs and pads to soak up the fuel and block the sewer drain from being filled with fuel. Additionally firefighters spread absorbent across the roadway to clean it up. Additional resources were also on scene to control the spill and leak from Null’s Towing.

Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-1, Engine 31-2 and Utility 31 all responded to the incident. Fire Police were also requested from the Wagontown Fire Company. Sadsburyville and Wagontown Fire Police had the road shut down for the duration of the incident.

Units: Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-1
