On September 11th, 2018 at 0341 the Westwood Fire Company and Medic 93 were dispatched to the westbound Route 30 Bypass east of Route 82 for an auto accident with entrapment. Initial reports indicated a tractor trailer overturned and the driver was still trapped inside. Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-1, Deputy 44, and Medic 93 all made an immediate response.
Arriving at 0349, Medic 93 confirmed the report and advised the driver had self-extricated. Deputy Chief Scott arrived and established the Bypass Command and requested fire police to shut down the westbound Route 30 Bypass at Reeceville Road.
Rescue 44 arrived and controlled the hazards of leaking fuel on the tractor and provided scene lighting. Wagontown and Thorndale Fire Police shut down the Bypass at the Reeceville Road exit.
Ambulance 44-1 was on scene but their services were not required and were diverted to a second emergency in the 800 block of Ross Street in Valley Township.
The road remained closed for most of the morning until Fling’s Towing could remove the tractor trailer.
