On Friday January 4th, 2019 at 0817 hours, a structure fire was dispatched in East Fallowfield Township. The report came for flames from the walls of a house in the 2800 block of Strasburg Road on Box 44-09 summoning the Westwood, Modena, Sadsburyville and Cochranville Fire Companies.

Assistant Chief Grossman arrived at 0822 hours and reported a 2.5 story wood frame dwelling with fire visible from the A/D corner. Assistant Chief Grossman established the Strasburg Road Command and followed with a 360. Chief McWilliams also arrived simultaneously and assumed the operations role.

Arriving at 0824, Engine 44-5 positioned in the driveway and deployed the 100’ front bumper line for fire suppression. Crews knocked down the rapidly growing exterior fire and split to the interior to check for extension and search of the dwelling.

Firefighter Obenchain led the crew to division 1 and reported negative extension and a minor smoke condition. Sergeant Kennedy deployed a positive pressure fan to the front door, after the fire was placed under control, for ventilation.

The fire was officially placed under control at 0829 hours with all hands working. Cochranville’s tank truck arrived for additional water supply but was returned minutes later. Sadsburyville Engine 31-1 assisted with clean up and stood by to cover the area for additional emergencies.
