Auto Accident Closes Northbound Route 82, Valley Township

On July 10th, 2019 at 2220 hours the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the intersection of Butterworth Road and Route 82 in Valley Township for an auto accident. Medic 93 was also on the dispatch for ALS related injuries. Assistant Chief Grossman marked enroute at 2224 hours and was advised of a 3 vehicle accident blocking the roadway with one patient suffering from chest pains.

Arriving at 2228 hours, Ambulance 44-1 and Assistant 44 reported the accident to be on northbound Route 82 north of Butterworth Road and confirmed the previous reports. Assistant Chief Grossman established the Route 82 command. Rescue 44 and Traffic 44 were also responding.

Rescue 44 arrived and blocked oncoming traffic to protect the responders. Traffic 44 shut down Route 82 north at Butterworth Road and diverted all traffic onto Butterworth Road. Deputy Chief Scott arrived and assumed the operations role.

Ambulance 44-1 evaluated all parties involved and ended up transporting two patients to a local hospital for further evaluation. Gazzero's and Fling's Towing were on site to remove the vehicles from the scene. The advance life support unit was not needed and was released by Ambulance 44-1. The Valley Township Police Department was on scene to investigate the accident.
