The Christmas Day provided no rest for our personnel as an auto fire came in at 0227 hours. The Westwood Fire Company was dispatched for an automobile on fire in the 1000 block of Charles Street in Valley Township.

Assistant 44 arrived at 0234 hours and reported a vehicle well off extending into the building. Deputy 44 was the next command officer arriving and established the Charles Street Command and requested mutual aid from Coatesville and Sadsburyville due to the building now being involved with fire.

Engine 44-5 arrived at 0235 and went in service with two hose lines, immediately getting water on the burning building and then knocking down the two cars involved with fire. Firefighters also forced entry into the building to get a stop on the fire from the inside.

Ladder 41-1 and Engine 31-1 arrived and personnel assisted with manpower to open up the cars and soffit of the building to ensure all fire was extinguished. The fire was placed under control at 0300 hours with all hands working.

The Chester County Fire Marshal’s Office was summoned to the scene to investigate the fire. Anyone with information about this incident is directed to notify the Valley Township Police Department.
