| On Wednesday evening June 16 2010 at 1900 hours the Westwood Fire Company hosted a joint training with our neighbors to the east Coatesville, and Modena.
Training Coordinator Mark Sweitzer from Coatesville would be conducting the training this evening, this evenings topic was vehicle fires. The evening started with a group discussion on the do and don't of vehicle fires, this day in age there are so many different vehicle manufactures using allot of different safety devises, and parts on the vehicles that from a fire standpoint could be very dangerous if not recognized and the appropriate precautions taken by the firefighters. During the discussion different techniques where also discussed about accessing the engine compartments of vehicles.
After the discussion was over firefighter then had the opportunity to put what they already know and learned to practice with live fire drills on three vehicles on the Westwood grounds. Training continued into the night with multiple live fire drills before crews cleaned up and headed home around 2200 hours |
