Westwood Fire and EMS along with 2 engines from Pomeroy Fire Co., one engine from Sadsburyville Fire Co., along with the Tower ladder from Parkesburg Fire Co. were dispatched at 08:52 hrs for a reported house fire at Marc Dr. in the Springbrook Village section of Valley Township. Initial reports from the Chester County 911 center reported that a fire had started on the top of the stove and was spreading. Engine 29-5 was first to arrive and found that the fire had extinguished itself prior to emergency service arrival. There was minimal smoke within the kitchen area of the house. Chief Scott investigated and found that a build up of grease under the electric elements on the top of the stove had caused the small fire. There was no evidence of the fire affecting the walls or cabinets. After opening a few windows the smoke had cleared from the house and the crews were advised they could return back to their stations. Residents are urged to check their stoves and ovens to ensure they are clean and that any spilled food be cleaned once the stove has cooled. Units cleared at 09:08
