Ambulance 144 Responds to Auto Accident with Entrapment in West Caln Township |

| On Thursday, April 19th, 2012 Ambulance 144 was dispatched at 1615 along with the Wagontown Fire Company, Martin's Corner Fire Company, and Medic 93 to the 300 block of West Kings Highway in West Caln Township for an auto accident reported serious. Calls to the Chester County 911 Center indicated that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a tree with the driver possibly unconscious. Ambulance 144 responded one minute after dispatch at 1616. EMS Chief Sly and Ambulance 144 arrived on the scene simultaneously at 1621. EMS Chief Sly confirmed one occupant still confined to the vehicle due to significant damage. EMS Chief Sly advised Wagontown Fire/Rescue units that extrication would be required in order to safely remove the patient from the vehicle. Wagontown Rescue 35 arrived on the scene at 1623 and their crew deployed the hydraulic "Jaws of Life" rescue tools and removed the driver's side doors. Wagontown Chief Ziegler arrived on the scene at 1628 and established "Route 340 Command." Martin's Corner Tac 34 arrived on the scene at 1629 and personnel assisted EMS crews removing the patient from the vehicle. The patient was safely extricated at 1630. Westwood EMS personnel loaded the patient into the ambulance for transport along with Medic 93-2 to Paoli Memorial Hospital's Trauma facility for treatment. Ambulance 144 returned to the area available at 1804. |
