Dual Ambulance Response to Accident with Entrapment in West Brandywine |

| On Monday, April 29th, 2013 Ambulance 144 was dispatched at 0758 along with Fire/Rescue units from the Wagontown and Martin's Corner Fire Company to respond to a vehicle accident on Route 82 North of Route 340 in West Brandywine Township. Just moments after the original dispatch, additional calls to 911 reported that at least one victim was trapped inside an automobile involved in the collision. Additional units from the East Brandywine Quick Response Service, Medic 93, and Ambulance 44-1 were summoned to the scene. First arriving crews aboard Ambulance 144 confirmed entrapment, and began to treat two other patients involved in the crash. The location was confirmed as the 1200 block of Manor Road in the area of Cigas Machine Shop. Firefighters from Wagontown arrived on the scene and began the extrication process utilizing the hydraulic "Jaws of Life" rescue tools. The roof and door of one automobile were removed to gain access to the patient and to ease the extrication process. The patient was extricated at 0837. Ambulance 44-1 transported one patient to Brandywine Hospital, while Ambulance 144 transported two patients to Paoli Hospital's Trauma Unit for treatment. Westwood Fire Police and Traffic 44 also responded to assist Wagontown Fire Police with closing Route 82 northbound at Route 340. All remaining units cleared the scene at 0914. |
