Two Motor Vehicle Accidents During Morning Rush Hour

By Assistant Fire Chief Randy Scott
September 24, 2014

On Wednesday, September 24th, 2014 the Fire Company was dispatched at 0646 for a motor vehicle accident on the Eastbound lanes of the Route 30 Bypass at the on-ramp from Route 82.

Battalion Chief Sly responded within one minute after dispatch and was advised of two vehicles off the side of the road. Ambulance 44-1, Rescue 44, and Assistant Chief Scott all responded one minute later. Units arrived to the first crash scene and found one patient in need of medical treatment. That patient was tended to by EMS personnel and was transported to the Brandywine Hospital with minor injuries. Units remained on the scene until Pennsylvania State Police arrived.

After clearing this first call, Assistant Chief Scott came upon a hit and run accident on the Westbound offramp ramp of the Bypass also at Route 82. Rescue 44 and the Fire Chief also responded and assisted with debris and traffic control.

Fortunately, a Good Samaritan witnessed the incident and followed the striking vehicle south into Coatesville City and was able to obtain a license plate and returned to the scene to provide it to the Police.

No additional services were needed by Fire or EMS and units cleared the scene.
