On Friday, September 19th, 2014 Ambulance 144 was dispatched at 0833 to assist the White Horse Fire Company at a serious vehicle accident in the 6100 block of Old Philadelphia Pike in Salisbury Township, Lancaster County.

Ambulance 144 responded at 0835 to join various other responding Fire, Rescue, and EMS personnel from Lancaster and Chester Counties. Reports to Lancaster Countywide Communications initially indicated that a tractor trailer had struck a house, catching fire. Additional 911 calls revealed that a second passenger vehicle was also involved in the collision, with occupants trapped.

Ambulance 144 arrived on the scene within 6 minutes from response at 0841. Numerous patients were severely injured requiring immediate medical treatment, with others unfortunately succumbing to their injuries on the scene.

Ambulance 144 transported one patient to Lancaster General Hospital.

It was later learned that several of the victims, including the deceased, were active volunteer firefighters at the Honey Brook Fire Company. It is a difficult situation any time our personnel have to respond to fatality incidents, but especially difficult when it involves our emergency services families.

Our thoughts are with the victims families and our colleagues in Honey Brook Fire Company.
