On Friday, February 6th, 2015 the Fire Company was dispatched at 0755 to the Eastbound Route 30 Bypass between the Route 82 and Airport Road exits for reports of a truck on fire.

Deputy Chief Scott responded at 0756 and arrived on the scene at 0804. Deputy 44 reported a panel van with no labeling and unknown contents with fire showing from the underside of the back of the van, along with a trail of spot fires approximately 200 feet west of where the van came to rest.

Deputy Chief Scott then established "Bypass Command" and confirmed with the owner of the vehicle there were no hazardous contents within the van. Engine 44-5 arrived at 0809 and stopped short of the van and began to extinguish the spot fires which were from the tire that blew off of the vehicle. Prior to the arrival of the Fire Company, several other vehicles stopped and utilized fire extinguishers to knock down the bulk of the flames.

Crews extinguished the remaining fire with a hose line before clearing the scene at 0826.
