Rescue And Dual Ambulance Response To West Caln Township

On Friday, February 20th, 2015 the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched at 1517 to assist the Wagontown Fire Company for an auto accident in the 1000 block of West Kings Highway of West Caln Township.

Ambulance 144 responded at 1518 and due to the report of three vehicles involved, Ambulance 44-1 responded as the second due Ambulance at 1520 followed shortly thereafter by Rescue 44. As units were responding, the Chester County 911 Center reported that the West Caln Police Department was on the scene reporting one occupant trapped. The incident was upgraded to add an Engine from the Sadsburyville Fire Company and Medic 93.

Battalion Chief Sly arrived and established "Sandy Hill Command" confirming one patient trapped and a total of three patients involved. Ambulance 144 began patient care until the arrival of Ambulance 44-1. Wagontown Rescue 35 arrived and began extrication efforts followed by Rescue 44 arriving at 1532.

Crews jointly worked to extricated the patient from the one of the vehicles. The extrication was completed within five minutes. Ambulance 144 then transported one patient the Paoli Hospital's Trauma unit along with Medic 93, while Ambulance 44-1 remained on the scene to assess the other patients. Those patients declined transport to the hospital.

Fire units remained on the scene for the arrival of a local tow company. The final units cleared the scene at 1552.
