Rescue Assist to Modena

On June 27th, at 07:55 the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched for the rescue to assist the Modena Fire Company and Medic 93 in the area of South First Avenue and Modena Roads for a reported auto accident with entrapment.

Rescue 44 and Ambulance 44-1 responded at 08:00 and was advised by the 911 center of a single vehicle accident with 1 subject trapped. The South Coatesville Police Department arrived to confirm the report and advised that 1 subject was pinned by the dashboard in the car. Modena Fire Company units arrived and began stabilizing the vehicle for the Rescue crew, as Modena EMS crews handled patient care.

Ambulance 44-1 was redirected to another emergency. Rescue 44 arrived at 08:04, and with cooperative efforts from Modena personnel began the extrication of the trapped subject. Assistant 37 arrived and established "First Avenue Command" Crews were able to have the patient extricated from the vehicle at 08:31.

Ambulance 37-2 and Medic 93 transported the injured person to an area trauma center. Crews remained on the scene as the South Coatesville Police Department conducted their investigation.

At 09:11 Assistant 37 terminated the command making all remaining units available.
