Flames were coming from the engine compartment and smoke could be seen from miles away as firefighters were responding to a reported auto fire Friday afternoon in the unit block of Newlinville Road in East Fallowfield.

Just before 1330, Westwood Fire and EMS arrived to find a truck well involved with flames. Firefighters deployed an 1-3/4" hose line up the drive way to deliver water to the fire for suppression.

Westwood Fire Chief McWilliams stated, "Thankfully from our quick response the flames were contained to the truck and did not spread to the adjacent vehicles or structures." McWilliams said the fire was under control just three minutes after firefighters arrived.

McWilliams reported no injuries during the incident and the cause of the fire was under investigation.
