Multiple agencies were called to the scene of a technical rescue Monday in West Brandywine Township. At 1931 the Wagontown Fire Company and Westwood Ambulance 144 were dispatched to the 200 block of Kingswood Lane for a subject trapped in mud near a creek.

When the call was placed to 911 it was believed the patient had been stuck in the mud for upwards of two hours.

Responders arrived on scene and quickly determined more resources were needed for the rescue. A dispatch went out for the Chester County Rescue Task Force to respond with personnel of the trench rescue discipline. In addition all-terrain vehicles and additional EMS units were called to access and transport the patient out of the woods.

Westwood responded Ambulances 144 and 44-1 for basic life support needs at the scene. Rescuers worked diligently into the night hours to rescue the patient and the extrication was complete at 2111.

Ambulance 144, Medic 93-1 and Medic 2-1 transported that patient to an awaiting helicopter at 2128 where they were then flown to a local trauma center.
