Firefighters arrived to find heavy fire showing from a three-story building in Coatesville's West End Wednesday. Numerous hose lines were placed in service as the City of Coatesville Fire Department arrived to battle the blaze. The call came in around 1234 when Westwood Fire Company was on the first alarm assignment as well as units from Modena, Thorndale and Coatesville VA to assist the City of Coatesville Fire Department.

Once it was confirmed a working fire, additional units were dispatched to assist from Keystone Valley, Modena, Downingtown and Sadsburyville. Eventually a second alarm was struck brining additional units from Wagontown and Lionville Fire Companies.

Westwood units Engine 44-5, Ambulance 44-1 and Ambulance 144 all made the response shortly after being dispatched. Upon arrival firefighters were sent in to contain the fire to the area of origin and extinguish it. Additional crews were sent to the roof to open up for vertical ventilation. Searches were conducted on all three floors prior to fire attack with no occupants found inside.

The Chester County Fire Marshal's office was on location determining the cause of the fire and extent of the damage. Coatesville Fire Chief Alderman was the incident commander for the duration of the call.

The fire was placed under control at 1305 with all hands working. Thank you to Irisheyez Photography for the photographs.
