On Wednesday August 17th, 2016 at 1246 the Westwood Fire Company and mutual aid were dispatched to Northbound Route 82 North of Butterworth Road in Valley Township for an auto accident with entrapment. Deputy Chief Scott responded immediately receiving reports of one patient confined to their vehicle.

Arriving within minutes fire and EMS units sized up the scene. Injuries appeared to be minor and one door had to be opened to free the occupant. Deputy 44 assumed Route 82 Command and advised fire police to shut down the highway at Butterworth Road.

After freeing the occupant, the Medic unit was cancelled and EMS received a patient refusal. Fire Police remained on the scene assisting with traffic control until the vehicles could be removed from the roadway.
