Woods Fire on Park Avenue

As high winds hit the area, multiples brush fires were being dispatched throughout the 48 hour period. At 1211 on the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the unit block of Park Avenue in East Fallowfield Township for a leaves fire. The caller reported a lawn mower had been used to clean up leaves and the leaves had caught fire with no exposure issues to property but was close to a nearby fence and wood line.

Battalion Chief Sly arrived at 1217 and established Park Avenue Command requesting additional resources to the scene. Rescue 44, Engine 44-5, ATV 44, Tac 44 and Ambulance 44-1 were all responding from Westwood. Additional Brush apparatus from Cochranville, Po-Mar-Lin and Wagontown were dispatched to assist.

Firefighters went in service to bring approximately 2-3 acres of woods on fire under control. Multiple hand lines from various trucks were utilized in addition to water being shuttled to the scene by Engine 44-5 from a nearby creek. Park Avenue Command placed the fire under control with all hands working at 1350. Final units cleared the scene at 1521.
