Building Fire at the Airport Shopping Center

On Wednesday August 21st, 2019 at 1957 hours the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the 100 block of Airport Road in Valley Township for a building fire. Engine 44-5, Rescue 44, Ambulance 44-1 and Chief 44 all made the response minutes after dispatch. After the dispatch, Ladder 8 was added to the assignment. In addition the Sadsburyville and Wagontown Fire Companies were also responding.

Engine 44-5 and Rescue 44 took position on side A and began to investigate the reports of flames and smoke in a business. Additional apparatus arrived and staged in the front and rear of the strip mall. Chief McWilliams assumed the Airport Road Command and Deputy Chief Scott had operations.

Firefighters discovered a malfunctioning air conditioning unit and no services were required. All units cleared the scene at 2052 hours.
