The Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to northbound Route 82 at the Route 30 Bypass Friday for an auto accident. The call came in around 0620 hours in the heap of rush hour traffic.

EMS Lieutenant Davison arrived first and reported two accidents. One accident being on the on ramp to the eastbound Route 30 Bypass and one accident being just east of the on ramp from Route 82 on the eastbound Route 30 Bypass.

A total of 5 vehicles were involved between the two accidents. The second accident was the only incident with injury and where EMS focused on.

Rescue 44 and Engine 44-5 both responded to the calls, as well as Traffic 44. The State Farm crash truck was also on scene to assist with traffic control.

A medic unit was requested for one patient who had injuries requiring ALS per protocol. Ambulance 44-1 and Medic 93 transported this patient to a local trauma center for further evaluation and treatment.

The right lane remained closed until the vehicles were removed by the tow company. Firefighters also closed the left lane for a short time to clear the roadway of debris.
