Reported Garage Fire in Hayti

On Sunday January 26th, 2020 at 0136, the Westwood, Sadsburyville and Wagontown Fire Companies were dispatched to a garage fire in the unit block of New Street in the Hayti section of Valley Township. The caller reported fire coming from the garage, garage was attached to a dwelling and all occupants were evacuating.

Arriving at 0144, Engine 44-5 (Carro) reported nothing showing from a single story single family dwelling. Chief McWilliams arrived next and established the New Street Command, Assistant Chief Grossman assuming operations. Firefighters conducted a 360 of the structure and determined negative for fire and/or smoke.

Crews entered the garage and found a small rubbish fire that had self-extinguished. With this report, the New Street Command held the assignment to the units on scene, Engine 44-5 and Ambulance 44-1, and recalled the units responding, Engine 31-1, Engine 31-2 and Rescue 35.

The situation was placed under control and all units cleared the scene at 0158 hours.
