Multi Vehicle Accident Closes the Eastbound Bypass

On Thursday August 13th, 2020 at 0649 hours the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the eastbound Route 30 Bypass east of Airport Road in Valley Township for an auto accident involving multiple vehicles. Initially the Wagontown Fire Company was dispatched to a location 1 mile west of there in West Caln Township at 0641 hours. Assistant Chief Grossman marked enroute at 0653 hours and advised all units to continue in until the location was updated.

Assistant Chief Grossman arrived at 0659 hours and established the Bypass Command with Wagontown Chief Ziegler taking operations. Rescue 35 and Rescue 44 arrived and blocked traffic to protect responders. Fire police units from Wagontown and Sadsburyville were diverted to close the eastbound bypass at Airport Road and Lincoln Highway.

Ambulance 44-1 and MICU 144 were both on scene and were treating the walking wounded. Each transport vehicle took 1 patient to a local hospital for further evaluation.

Fling’s Towing was on scene within minutes and began removing vehicles once approved by the PA State Police. Fire Police had the roadway closed for the duration of the incident until it was completely clear of vehicles and debris. All units were made available at 0735 hours.
