Woods Fire in Westwood

On Sunday night, November 8th, 2020 at 1910 hours the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the 100 block of Oak Avenue in the Westwood section of Valley Township for a woods fire. The caller indicated fire in the woods and unknown the extent of area.

Ambulance 44-1 arrived to find a working woods fire in an area about 50' by 50' and spreading. ATV 44, Tac 44 and Engine 44-5 all responded to the scene.

Firefighters arrived and went to work right away, with Tac 44 (Pilotti) advancing a hose line 200' from the driveway into the woods and ATV 44 (DC Scott) immediately accessing the woods. Additional resources were summoned from the Sadsburyville Fire Company, brining Brush 31 and Engine 31-2 to the scene.

Sadsburyville crews arrived and established a water supply to the Westwood units and manpower went to work in the woods containing the fire. The fire was under control at 1945 hours with all hands working. Crews remained on scene until being released by Command (AC Grossman) at 2114 hours.
