On Sunday March 14th, 2021 the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to a structure fire in West Marlborough Township. The call came in for tankers to assist the Avondale Fire Company in the 1600 block of Newark Road across street of Spencer Road. Firefighters arrived to find a mushroom house well involved in flames as well as multiple exposures. Engine 44-5 operated on the scene for just under 3.5 hours before being released by the Avondale Command (Chief Hall). Again at 0756 hours the Westwood Fire Company responded to the 200 block of Buck Run Road in East Fallowfield Township for a trash fire. The resident here was burning old lumber with an exposure issue. Luckily Westwood units arrived within 9 minutes of being dispatched to control the fire before it became another catastrophe of the day. Throughout the County, all day many fire companies were responding to multiple vegetation and structure fires. There is not any burning allowed in Valley Township or East Fallowfield Township and is not recommended anywhere on days with red flag conditions. |
