On Thursday March 18th, 2021 at 1152 hours the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the 3100 block of Strasburg Road in East Fallowfield Township for an equipment fire. Engine 44-5 made an immediate response with a crew of 3.

Arriving at 1200 hours, Engine 44-5 arrived to find a piece of mulch processing equipment well involved with flames. Firefighters deployed the front bumper foam hoseline and began suppressing the flames. Site personnel assisted with loaders to get the area opened up around the machine while firefighters doused the flames.

Assistant Chief Grossman assumed the command and requested additional tankers to the scene to supplement Engine 44-5’s 3,000 gallons of water. This summoned Keystone Valley Tanker 8 and Cochranville Tanker 27 to the scene.

Crews worked together with two hose lines in service for the next half hour before placing the fire under control at 1230 hours.
