Again, for the third time this week, the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the Westbound Route 30 Bypass for an emergency. This time the incident was at the Airport Road offramp. Calls to 911 reported a car on fire off on the side of the road. Engine 44-5 and MICU 44-1 made an immediate response.

Within minutes Battalion Chief Sly arrived on location and reported a car on fire. Engine 44-5 arrived and deployed the front bumper line to suppress the flames. Additional resources were summoned into the scene for various suppression equipment needs which brought the Sadsburyville Fire Company Engine 31.

After applying a foam blanket to the fire to suppress the fuel that was on fire, the situation was under control within about 15 minutes of arriving. The westbound offramp to Airport Road was closed for the duration of the call. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
