On January 19th, 2023, the Westwood Fire Company and automatic aid were dispatched to the 1000 block of Willow Street in Valley Township for a structure fire. Units from the Sadsburyville, Keystone Valley, East Brandywine and Wagontown Fire Companies were dispatched on this assignment.

Engine 44-5 and MICU 44-1 responded immediately at dispatch, all with on-station staffing career and volunteer. Chief McWilliams responded to the scene direct and arrived first due.

Firefighters arrived to find a small fire that was inside of a bathroom wall that seemed to have occurred due to a lightning strike in the back yard. The tree that was struck by lighting was over 100 feet away from the house.

Firefighters searched the house for any additional signs of smoke or fire. The fire was quickly under control and units were scaled back to Engine 44-5, Rescue 31 and Ladder 08.
