On Thursday December 14th, 2023 at 15:00, the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the 900 block of Wagontown Road in Valley Township for a down power wire. Rescue 44 made an immediate response to the call.

Units arrived to find a working woods fire and requested additional resources from the West End, Sadsburyville and Wagontown Fire Companies to assist. The fire was rapidly spreading over dry woods with moderate winds.

Units took position on Route 82 and Wagontown Road to suppress the fire. Water was shuttled into the scene by 2 tankers.

The fire was under control in under 30 minutes with all hands working.
