| Tonight the Westwood Fire Company hosted Girl Scout Troops 4418, 4203, and 4280 for a hands‑on first‑aid and emergency preparedness program designed to help Daisies, Brownies, and Juniors complete their First Aid Badge requirements. During the visit, Westwood’s EMTs, paramedics, and firefighters provided age‑appropriate instruction on basic first aid, including how to recognize common injuries, provide initial care, and determine when to call 911. Scouts also learned hands‑only CPR and were introduced to the operation and purpose of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). In addition to the medical training, the Girl Scouts received a guided apparatus and equipment tour of Westwood’s fire engine and ambulance. Crews demonstrated essential tools and gear, offering the Scouts a behind‑the‑scenes look at how first responders prepare for emergencies. “Engaging with youth in our community is one of the most meaningful parts of our mission,” said EMS Captain Beth Case. “These Scouts showed enthusiasm, curiosity, and a real desire to learn skills that can make a difference in an emergency.” The Westwood Fire Company remains committed to community education, safety outreach, and empowering young residents with life‑saving knowledge. |
