| On Thursday, October 9th, 2008 just prior to our monthly fire company meeting, the Officers of the Parkesburg Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #4480 stopped by our fire station to hand deliver a check to the Westwood Fire Company.
For the past three years, the Officers of the VFW have recognized the efforts of the Westwood Fire Company by presenting us with an annual donation.
The Parkesburg VFW also provides a donation to the Parkesburg Fire Company, Pomeroy Fire Company, Cochranville Fire Company, Sadsburyville Fire Company, and the Atglen Fire Company each year.
The Sadsburyville Fire Company and Pomeroy Fire Company also received their annual donations at our station tonight as well.
Additionally, the VFW offers scholarships to local high school students, provides food to the needy, and sponsors many various community events each year. Their support of the Parkesburg area and surrounding communities is unmatched.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to the Officers and Members of the Parkesburg VFW for their generosity and consideration shown to the Westwood Fire Company. We are very grateful to the VFW for recognizing the efforts of our local volunteers.
