| On Saturday, August 14th, 2010 the Valley Township Parks and Recreation Committee held the 6th Annual "Valley Day" festivities. For the third year in a row, the Township requested to hold the event at the Westwood Fire Company due to our large property. This year's event was attended by residents who had the opportunity to enjoy the wonderful weather and various scheduled events and vendors on display. It was the biggest turn out for the event so far with an estimated two thousand people in attendance. Children had the opportunity to learn and practice fire safety procedures thanks to some assistance provided by our friends at the Kennett Fire Company. Kennett's Fire Safety trailer was on hand again this year to simulate smoke inside of a home, safe evacuation techniques, weather emergencies, and how and when to call 911. All day, children and adults had the opportunity to check out the various emergency equipment owned by the Fire Company. The Westwood Fire Company would like to thank the Kennett Fire Company for the use of their Fire Prevention Trailer and the Sadsburyville Fire Company for assistance with additional manpower and EMS coverage on the grounds. |
