| On Friday, August 27th, 2010 the Thorndale Fire Company was dispatched along with Westwood Ambulance at 0642 to an auto accident on the Route 30 Bypass Eastbound at Route 322 in Caln Township. After multiple reports to the County 911 Center, it was determined that a motorcycle was involved. Medic 93 was then dispatched to assist. Christiana Lancaster Deputy Chief Meadowcroft, while on his way to work, was first to arrive on scene. He reported that there was one patient down in the roadway. Due to the patient's condition, Sky FlightCare was dispatched to the scene to airlift the patient to a trauma center. Chief Taylor of Thorndale Fire Company arrived minutes later and established "Route 30 Command." Due to the rush hour traffic, it was difficult for units to get to the scene. Upon Ambulance 44-1's arrival, the patient was quickly loaded and along with Medic 93 and transport began to the Downingtown Middle School where Sky FlightCare had landed. The patient was then airlifted to a Crozer Chester Medical Center's local trauma center. After decontaminating the Ambulance at Brandywine Hospital, Ambulance 44-1 became available at 0810 and was dispatched immediately to a medical emergency in Valley Township. |
