| Wednesday night firefighters from the Westwood and Modena Fire Companies trained together on vehicle rescue. The night included utilizing a vehicle from Reed’s Salvage and the vehicle was on its side during the training.
Firefighters and rescue crew members used rescue equipment from Rescue 44 and Squad 37 to complete vehicle stabilization and extrication.
Firefighters collaboratively worked together to stabilize the vehicle on its side utilizing struts and stabilization equipment. Training with this stabilization technique, left the operating side of the vehicle completely open and free of equipment to increase the workflow efficiency.
Once the vehicle was stabilized, hydraulic rescue tools and saws were used to remove the roof of the vehicle. Once the roof was removed then we can package and extricate the patient(s). |
