By EMS Chief Michael McWilliams
August 13, 2010

On Friday, August 13th, 2010 the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched at 1259 to the Route 30 Bypass Westbound East of Route 82 in Valley Township for a vehicle accident.

At the same time, the Thorndale Fire Company along with the Coatesville Veteran's Administration Fire Department and Washington Hose Company Ambulance were being dispatched for an accident Eastbound West of Reeceville Road in Caln Township.

Chief 44 responded a minute after dispatch and arrived onscene minutes later. Upon his arrival, he established "Bypass Command" and determined the call to be in Caln Township.

Rescue 44 was then canceled and Ambulance 44-1 continued in to assist with patient care.

Due to a large amount of debris on the highway, PennDOT was called out to sweep the roadway.

All patients refused medical treatment and EMS units cleared the scene at 1323.

Fire Police from Thorndale and Westwood remained onscene until 1354 to assist with traffic control.

Units: Rescue 44 and Ambulance 44-1

Mutual Aid: Thorndale Rescue 38 and Traffic 38, Coatesville VA Engine 76, and Washies Ambulance 41-1
