Structure Fire on Main Street in Hayti

On Thursday September 9th, 2021 at 2003 hours the Westwood Fire Company and automatic aid from the Sadsburyville and Wagontown Fire Companies were all dispatched to the 800 block of Main Street in the Hayti section of Valley Township for a structure on fire.

Engine 44-5, MICU 44-1 and Chief 44 all made an immediate response. Additionally Engine 31-1, Engine 31-2 and Rescue 35 all responded from our mutual aid partners.

Arriving first due Engine 44-5 reported a single story wood frame structure with nothing showing from the exterior. Westwood firefighters made entry into the structure and located a fire in the basement and had smoke throughout the structure.

Engine 31-1 arrived second due and assisted with fire suppression. Additional crews from Westwood and Sadsburyville performed positive pressure ventilation on the structure once the fire was under control. Rescue 35 stood by as the rapid intervention crew.

All units cleared the scene within 45 minutes of arrival. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
