| On Friday, March 23rd, 2012 Chief McWilliams and Battalion Chief Sly traveled to the 4 Guys Manufacturing facility in Meyersdale, Pennsylvania where our new Pumper/Tanker is being constructed.
The purpose of this visit was to inspect the body portion of the new vehicle prior to the vehicle being painted. This allows for any changes to be made once the committee had the opportunity to view the vehicle in person.
The day began early in the morning at 0830 with the Chiefs meeting with Bob Pursel, our Sales Consultant. Department heads from each of the divisions of 4 Guys Manufacturing met with the Chiefs throughout the day to discuss in detail the responsibilities of their divisions in respect to building the vehicle. Any questions needing addressed were discussed directly with the teams that would be responsible.
Electrical questions were the first items discussed followed by the Finishing Department and finally the Pump and plumbing division.
In order to keep the day as short as possible, the committee decided to order lunch into the factory and kept working throughout the day to review the full specs of the vehicle.
Following all of the questions, changes, and updates the Chiefs left the factory just prior to 1600 to return to Westwood.
If all goes as scheduled, the vehicle is expected to be completed in early May. |
