January 4, 2026

Westwood Fire/Rescue responded to a series of emergencies on Sunday, managing three fire‑related incidents across the region while Westwood EMS handled nearly 15 medical calls within the past 24 hours.

---

10:09 – Cardiac Arrest (Valley Township)

The first incident of the day occurred at 10:09 in the 200 block of Glencrest Road for a reported cardiac arrest. Fire and EMS personnel arrived quickly and provided emergency medical care.

---

15:23 – Gas Leak (Coatesville City)

At 15:23, Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to a reported gas leak inside a residence in the 300 block of Charles Street. Deputy 44, Engine 44‑5, and MICU 44‑1 responded.

A separate active gas leak was later identified in the 100 block of Ridge Avenue. PECO was requested to the scene, and fire crews evacuated nearby homes as a precaution while the hazard was secured.

---

16:32 – Electrical Fire (Horizon Drive)

At 16:32, units were dispatched to the unit block of Horizon Drive for a reported electrical fire inside a residence. With Westwood crews still committed to the gas leak response, cover units from Keystone Valley, Wagontown, and Modena were dispatched.

Deputy 08 from Keystone Valley arrived first and assumed command. Firefighters investigated an electrical issue inside the home, and additional reports of electrical problems in neighboring residences were received. Crews checked multiple properties and confirmed issues affecting several locations.

Once it was determined there was no immediate threat to life or safety, units cleared the scene. PECO was requested to continue investigating and mitigate the electrical hazard.

Mutual Aid Appreciation

Westwood Fire Company extends sincere thanks to Keystone Valley, Wagontown, and Modena Fire Companies for providing coverage while our crews were committed to other emergencies.
