| The Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the unit block of Knoll Road in East Fallowfield Township for a reported house fire. Automatic aid from the Keystone Valley and Coatesville Fire Departments and the Modena, Sadsburyville, and Cochranville Fire Companies were also dispatched.
Engine 44‑5 arrived first due just five minutes after dispatch. The crew laid a 5‑inch supply line from the nearest hydrant and reported normal conditions from the exterior of the dwelling.
Firefighters investigated and located a small fire in a bathroom on Division 1 that had burned out prior to their arrival. Crews opened the area of origin to check for extension and confirmed there was no further fire spread into the walls or ceiling.
Assistant Chief Grossman arrived, assumed command, and placed the incident under control, holding all units on scene.
It was noted that the homeowner was alerted to the fire by the home’s working smoke alarms. The early warning provided ample time to evacuate all occupants safely and call 911 without delay. |
