| Emergency responders from the Westwood Fire Company, along with Sadsburyville Fire Company, were dispatched at 3:40 AM on Friday to the 300 block of Larose Drive in the Round Hill Development of Valley Township for a reported natural gas leak. The caller reported hearing a hissing sound outside the residence.
Upon arrival, crews located a natural gas regulator that had become encased in ice and snow. The buildup caused the regulator to malfunction, resulting in an active gas leak.
Firefighters cleared snow from the area and used warm water to carefully melt away the ice surrounding the equipment. This allowed responders to access and close the shutoff valve, stopping the flow of gas.
With the leak secured, crews used gas detection meters to confirm that no natural gas had entered the home.
The incident was turned over to PECO at 4:15 AM, and all fire units cleared the scene. |
