| For the second day in a row, Westwood Fire Company crews were dispatched to a working vehicle fire in Valley Township. Today’s incident occurred at 1:25 PM on the westbound Route 30 Bypass at Route 82.
Engine 44‑5 responded immediately and arrived on scene within seven minutes of dispatch, reporting a vehicle fully involved in fire. Firefighters deployed a hoseline and began suppression efforts as parts of the burning vehicle were breaking free and becoming airborne.
Pennsylvania State Police arrived prior to fire personnel and had already closed the westbound lanes of the highway due to the hazards present. With all hands working, firefighters quickly brought the fire under control within approximately ten minutes of arrival.
The highway remained closed for the duration of the incident until the tow company could remove the burned vehicle and the roadway was deemed safe for reopening.
Chief 44 held command throughout the incident. |
