| During our annual hose testing in the fall of 2025, several sections of our 5‑inch supply line failed and had to be removed from service immediately. This left Engine 44‑5 with only half of its normal complement of supply hose, creating an operational gap that needed to be addressed quickly.
In true fire service fashion, a neighboring department stepped up without hesitation. The Coatesville Fire Department provided us with 5‑inch hose to use while we awaited delivery of new supply line from the manufacturer. Their crews not only loaned the hose but also assisted our members in packing it onto Engine 44‑5. When our new hose arrived, they returned once again to help us load the fresh supply line onto the engine.
We cannot thank the Coatesville Fire Department enough for their support during our time of need. Our relationship with Coatesville spans many years—sharing equipment, assisting one another during emergencies, and even housing apparatus for them in the past. This most recent act of cooperation is another example of the strong partnership and mutual respect between our departments.
The Westwood Fire Company is grateful for their continued friendship and commitment to the fire service tradition of helping one another. |
